It is difficult to perform morning and evening prayers in winter. Due to the cold and dense fog in Kankan, it takes laziness to make aju. At this opportunity, Satan tries his best to keep people away from prayers. They try to keep the difficult moments of the cold away from God by floating in front of their eyes. But the true believer never falls into his trap. Don’t be fooled by it. Does not indulge in laziness. Because the virtues and rewards of Fajr prayers are more than other prayers. Apart from that, the thawab-maryada of the winter morning prayers increases a hundred times more than other prayers. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Whoever prays during the two cold seasons will enter Paradise.’ Bukhari. Explaining the two cold periods, the hadith scholars have said that the two cold prayers mean the Esha and Fajr prayers. Just because of the cold, the reward and virtue of this prayer is multiplied. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) announced special good news and rewards for those who perform ablution and prayers during the cold season. So that no one neglects to perform aju during winter. Do not neglect to perform the prayers. He said, ‘Shall I not inform you of something by which Allah will forgive you your sins (and forgive you) and increase your dignity and honor (with Allah)? The Companions said, of course, O Messenger of God! The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Perform ablution well in difficult moments (in winter or any other cold).’ There are many more virtues in praying in winter than in other times. There is even special good news about this subject. Hazrat Abu Bakr Ibn Abu Musa (R.) narrates from his father’s source that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Whoever performs the two winter (Fajr and Asr) prayers will enter Paradise.’ Bukhari.
Apart from this, there is a special opportunity to observe naafil fast in winter. It also reduces the pain due to the shortness of the day. Winter days are also very useful for fulfilling one’s qaza fast. Narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (RA). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Because the winter night is long, the believer can perform the naafil prayers at night and fast because the day is short.’ Bayhaqi.
